HBO is pulling out a lot of stops to promote their upcoming series Big Love.
First, they made a controversial move when they inserted ads into the photo albums of users on Webshots.com. Some people were a bit surprised to see pictures of a polygamist wedding in their collections. Webshots later agreed that the pics should be more clearly labeled as advertisements.
adfreak also has the details on wedding invitations that were sent out to promote the show. The invites appeared real and fooled at least one recipient momentarily. That invitiation also directed people to a microsite that not only included show info but also a contest to win a vacation.
HBO will also be running ads for the show in 31 podcasts through a deal with Podtrac. That actually started Monday and is including both pre-recorded spots and host-read copy.
