Bush to veto war vote

White House Threatens Veto On Dem Withdrawal Plan

Fine. Let him. Then it’s truly and fully his and anyone who votes against it. He wants to take ownership over the war and define “victory” and “defeat.” Him vetoing this measure will let his head be the one that bears responsibility over its outcome. But the threat of a veto doesn’t mean Dems shouldn’t still work to pass this measure, even if it’s essentially symbolic. It puts them on the record as having a Plan B, something the White House has yet to provide.

There is no curse

Starr: Are the Cubs Baseball’s Last Tragedy?

Thilk: No. Are You an Asshole Looking for an Easy Story Hook?

Seriously, there’s nothing that gets my blood pressure up more than talk about curses and goats and such. It’s ridiculous. It’s the players on the field and because Kerry Wood and Mark Prior are each about to qualify for a free Tommy John surgery after getting their punch cards filled that’s keeping the Cubs from doing better.
