    My secret shame

Yesterday evening when I was asked how my day at work went I decided to omit from the retelling the 15 minutes I spent laughing my backside off at ThingsIDidLastNight.com.

Super Hero Squad comes to the small screen

Marvel has announced it will not only create a comic book that debuts later this year but also a TV show for next year based on the Super Hero Squad line of toys.

These figures are a big hit in my house, with me wanting to collect them all as much as the boys. In fact we saw the Iron Man-centric “Hall of Armor” set while attending Free Comic Book Day at our local comics shop and it immediately went on everyone’s “can we please get this?” list.

    Very cool news, I think.

    Another vote for Hawkeye

Vulture too nominates Hawkeye to fill the “other team member who didn’t get his own movie before this” role in the recently announced Avengers flick.

    3 million Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers

NBC says it will start the bidding for a 30-second spot within the 2009 Super Bowl at $3 million. That would beat this year’s $2.7 million charged by ABC and, at the same time, cause my head to explode over the idea that someone will pay $3 million for a single commercial placement.

    Avengers movie wish-list

I’m in more or less complete agreement with Chris Campbell on his list of Avengers characters that should be included in the team’s big-screen debut in 2011. Being a fan of Hawkeye he obviously would top my list, but I think Black Panther is a definite as well. And I’d replace Moondragon on his list with Tigra just to get a little more WCA representing going on.

“It’s a long par five to the nation’s capitol”

The good news: Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie is getting reissued on DVD after almost a decade out of print.

The bad news: It’s the same bare-bones edition that was released back in 1998.

Still, if you’ve never been able to find a copy of the DVD this is well worth adding to your MST3K collection.

    It’ll be so worth it

Marvel has announced 2010 as the year of both Iron Man 2 and the first Thor movie. Those will be followed in 2011 by – and here’s where it gets exciting – first a Captain America flick and then the combined Avengers.

I’m not sure where the Ant-Man movie I thought had pretty good production momentum, but this is still very cool news.

I’m gonna roll it back to you

Rhino is finally going to satisfy fan requests and release “Stone of Sisyphus,” the album Chicago recorded in 1993 following the artistically and commercially disappointing Twenty-1 but, because of disagreements with the record label, never actually released.

I’ve had a bootleg copy for about eight years now but this is definitely going to be something I buy so as to have the album in high quality format. I’m not even so much interested in the bonus tracks (all demos) but having an official version of this great album is definitely attractive.

Well that’s not how that was supposed to turn out

The Iraqi government says the U.S. needs to repay its debt to the country. Weren’t they the ones supposed to be thankful to us for liberating them? I’m confused, Mr. Cheney, please explain this to me.
