Karina’s right, this might be the worst weekend ever for new films. That’s why there will be no new Mini MMM’s this week. I did write a full-sized column for FilmThreat but that’s all your getting I just can’t bring myself to write something on Hostel or Bloodrayne. Sorry.
Let’s start off the New Year with a batch of links for the trailer for Apocolypto, yet another Mel Gibson movie in a dead language. First, though, the synopsis for all of you (including me) who thought the trailer looked pretty but had no idea what the movie was about.
From Academy Award® winning filmmaker Mel Gibson (“The Passion of the Christ,†“Braveheartâ€), comes APOCALYPTO: a heart stopping mythic action-adventure set against the turbulent end times of the once great Mayan civilization. When his idyllic existence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force, a man is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him. Through a twist of fate and spurred by the power of his love for his woman and his family he will make a desperate break to return home and to ultimately save his way of life.
