popcornhome.JPGAn interesting concept from a new company called Popcorn Home Entertainment. The company is looking to bridge VOD and DVD customers by offering them as a bundle.

VOD movies will be available the same day as they’re in stores as DVD, which shatters a previously-in-place window that usually delayed VOD debuts by a month or more. When they order the movie on demand they can also choose to buy the DVD, which will be shipped to them as usual.

The movies cost $19.95, and Warner Bros. and Universal are so far the only studios that have signed on.

I’m all for anything, really, that works to make movies more readily available to the marketplace at a time when some major advertising is being done.
